USA Boxing to Provide Training Space at 2019 Western Elite Qualifier
USA Boxing announced today the added amenity of a training space provided by USA Boxing Merchandise in the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino during the 2019 Western Elite Qualifier & Regional Open Championships. This space will be available for coaches and boxers to use for training, warming up before bouts, as well as weight management.
The training space, which will be open to those attending beginning on Monday, March 25, and open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.**, will include heavy bags, as well as enough space for coaches to work mitts and other activities to help boxers competing in the tournament. The USA Boxing equipment company will also bring in samples of equipment for coaches and boxers to test out in the training room throughout the week.
USA Boxing’s High Performance staff will also use the workout space to host an Orientation Day-style workout, where boxers and coaches can sample the same exercises used by the USA Boxing junior and youth high performance teams. Exercises will include an extensive dynamic warm-up, “school boxing” drills, as well as cool-down exercises, with the aim at developing the “universal boxer.”
Daily workouts are scheduled for 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.**, beginning Tuesday, March 26. The workouts will run through Saturday, March 30. Coaches who would like to be involved will meet daily at 8:30 a.m., prior to the workout session. The classes will be facilitated by newly appointed Coaching Education Coordinator Chadrick Wigle.
